Welcome to Teen Options for Teen Problems
New School for Troubled Teen girls
A new school for girls 12-17 is now open in Kansas. The school is called Meadowlark Academy, it is unique in that it offers a dog therapy program while using a positive peer culture to help a troubled teen.
We are a company dedicated to helping parents find an appropriate
placement for their troubled and defiant teen. We work with
various options for at-risk youth, including Boot Camps, Boarding Schools, Residential Treatment
Centers, and Wilderness Programs. We also help parents arrange
financing for youth programs if they are in need of assistance.
Alcohol and Drug Abuse
In the American life style psychoactive drugs are both accepted and criticized. This is due to the mixed signals that Americans send to our youth. As a society we accept certain drugs for medical use and reject people who use psychoactive drugs to get a high or buzz. Is there a difference if a person drinks a beer or takes a hit of LSD. These two drugs both cause an individual to get high and fell good. The only difference is that alcoholic beverages are legal and LSD is illegal. Why is this two faced policy part of the American life style? Let’s look at the written laws that shape the American life style. Image what our society will be like in the millennium. Will our society be different than it is today? Can we properly judge how psychoactive drugs will affect the twenty-first century and beyond. People in our society think that alcoholic beverages are less harmful than other drugs that are illegal. If this was the case then why do we need such agencies or organizations that help to rehabilitate members of our society? Is there a difference between the Betty Ford clinic and a drug rehabilitation center? Our society has this misconception that only marijuana, LSD, cocaine and other such illegal drugs are bad or harmful to the human body. If an individual could see the affects of a lifetime of drinking; do you think that they would change their harmful ways? The reality is that people need alcoholic beverages to function in their spare time. Imagine a society were people judge two drugs with similar consequences differently. This society is, unfortunately enough, current American society. Children need guidance from our society to help them grow. If we don't give them the correct message they are doomed to repeat the mistakes of our generation. We must convey a message to the younger generation that all drugs including alcoholic beverages are harmful to their bodies. When we successfully convey this message our society will finally take a step to help change the future.
What can we do for you?
Teen Options is continually looking for quality schools to represent. Our pre-screening form is sent to potential schools to determine if they qualify to be recommended by us. The typical student we are working with will do anything to remove him or herself from a structured setting. We talk to parents all of the time who have police records for abusing their children. The parent may have done nothing more than spank their child.
While we don't condone child abuse in any shape or form, we believe
that in many cases child abuse is in the eye of the beholder. There
are youth today who will say they are being abused if they have
their cell phones taken away or if they are sent to their rooms. Keep
this in mind when you are seeking a school for your child. Another
factor to consider is the honesty of the teen making a claim of
abuse. It is rare to have a parent tell us that their troubled
youth is honest with them.Almost every school has either had allegations or investigations of child abuse. Simply because a school has been investigated or reported for child abuse is, in our opinion, not grounds to dismiss the school as an option. We believe that the best way for a parent to decide on a school is to make a personal visit.
